Our approach begins with and revolves around you. We listen, learn, think and act exclusively on your behalf to ensure that your investment management needs supersede every other agenda.
We handle all contracts and correspondence to facilitate a seamless asset transfer and to ensure compliance with all regulations and industry protocols.
Explore. To gain an understanding of your current financial situation, we begin relationships with an assessment of your needs, commitments and goals. We then identify areas where we can help you meet your objectives and share our observations and recommendations to ensure that we've heard and addressed your needs.
Engage. We coordinate as needed with your other advisors -- such as tax counsel and estate attorneys -- to further refine our recommended strategy. We prepare necessary documents for opening your account, as well as all custodial and investment management agreements. The Investment Management Agreement empowers Obermeyer with the right and responsibility to make investment decisions on your behalf.
Expedite. We expedite asset transfer by directing your existing brokerage firm or custodian to transfer funds into your new account. In many cases,"in-kind" transfers help incorporate appropriate pre-existing holdings among your new positions. We also gather cost basis information to track realized or unrealized gains and losses. Transfers typically take from two to four weeks.
Exchange. Once the majority of your assets have transferred and we begin to align your account(s), we meet with you to review and confirm our strategy. Custodians typically deliver statements monthly; Obermeyer's are mailed quarterly. Our statements capture year-to-date performance, contributions, distributions and other useful information. We recommend scheduling a meeting with us at least once a year to review your account(s), revisit your investment objectives and to address any changes that might affect your financial strategy. And of course, we encourage an ongoing dialogue to ensure that we address your questions and distinct needs.
